Oh my god, as a Biology major and former part-time Bio lab instructor, I cannot stress enough how much we should not consider Wikipedia to be anything other than a good jumping off point for finding information. You should NEVER take it to be the final word on anything. Yes, they claim that the info provided is checked, but who's to say that you're reading it after it's been checked and verified? You may get there the day it's posted! ANYONE can post info about ANYTHING, you do not need to be an expert. In the sciences, no article is taken seriously until it has been published in a peer-reviewed journal of good standing, and that is a rigorous and difficult thing to achieve. So I have a strong leeriness of Wikipedia. Always find other sources that agree with the info you read there before you take it all as the truth/facts/real/actual/whatever.
